Saving While Shopping Online

The busy holiday season is upon us. Many including myself do a lot of shopping online. Even if I plan to pick the item up in the store if it is a larger purchase I will still typically place the order online first. There is one reason for this...cash back! There are many websites out there now but my primary and favorite is Ebates.com. I have been using it for over 18 months and have gotten a check all but one quarter. They even offer cash back for some Amazon purchases and anyone who knows me personally knows I buy almost everything on Amazon. My favorite cash back savings from Ebates is when I need to buy auto parts. I order online and then can pick up in store in about an hour. It's really easy. Go to ebates.com look up and select the store then carry on with your regular shopping. Check it out at http://www.ebates.com/rf.do?referrerid=mufdrFK%2FGUMAWio7A49lbg%3D%3D

The Success Giveaway

So many military wives want to stay at home with their kids. What mom doesn't? In many cases it is hard to transition from a two income family to one income. It is also sometimes hard to stay a one income family as the size of the family grows. I quit my part time job when we moved from KS to NC. Our family grew in size very quickly and though my husband makes decent money there was a lot of debt from both of our divorces. I chose to start a business in direct sales and though I'm doing well there is always room for improvement. Twelve very successful ladies are giving away some very valuable business building tools as part of The Success Giveaway. Don't wait through as the information is only available for the next three days...until November 15, 2012.

Share the Love of Reading

It's never too early to turn a child into an avid reader. My 25 month old son loves books especially if they have trains, trucks, or ducks in them. I feel this is due to the fact he has three older sisters who are always reading to him. When the mail arrived yesterday I was super excited to find that our first book from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library had arrived! It was none other than The Little Engine that Could! My son sat on the floor and immediately started flipping through the pages. The youngest of our girls couldn't wait to start reading it to him.

Imagination Library is an amazing program that was started in 1996 that sends one book each month to children under the age of five. In 2000 the Imagination Library program became a National Organization and now in 2012 there are over 636,000 children registered! Some can register by going online to the website http://www.imaginationlibrary.com/#, while others should visit that website and find their local chapter. It takes only a few minutes out of your day to register your child. I simply printed out the paperwork and mailed it in to our local chapter here in Fayetteville NC. There are still some areas that do not have local chapters or online registration...so if you or someone you know is interested in starting a program in your community please visit the website for that information as well.

Introduction

Hello and Welcome! I am a military wife and a mom to three beautiful little girls and one handsome little boy.  My husband and I met a little over five years ago in Junction City KS. He was a member of the Fort Riley Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard and I was working and going to school at Kansas State University. We never would have dreamed how much our lives would change in such a short amount of time.

I've been an Army wife for almost four years now. We received orders to Fort Bragg NC shortly after we were married. There were many adjustments that we had to get used to once we moved to Fort Bragg. The first was being a blended family and going from one child living in our house to having all three girls living with us. My husband also deployed for five months after only being at Bragg for roughly six weeks. We also had to adjust to the change in income. I was no longer able to work outside the home and though the deployment money helped we knew it was only temporary. My challenge was to learn how to stretch the money we did make a little further and find other ways to supplement our income while still being at home for the kids.

I have been blessed by the opportunity to work from home. I am most thankful for this because all four of our children have special needs that require many appointments each week. I have also found many ways to easily earn gift cards and receive cash back on purchases I was going to make anyways.

I have learned a lot in the last five years and I want to share some of my experiences with my readers. My hope is that this becomes a place of encouragement and hope for the military mom/wife, as well as a place to share resources and money saving tips. There is so much that goes into being a successful military family and no one should have to learn it all on their own.
